Spring 2010 Class Schedule

Application Programming with C++
This course will teach you how to design, write and test computer programs using object-oriented techniques. Students will learn how to design a computer program using simple object-oriented techniques, know how to verify that a program is working correctly, be able to write programs that are easy to maintain, and understand the general principles of programming languages. (Recommended for teenagers)

Beginning Game Programming with C++
Learn to design and construct your own computer games! You will learn how to build a "plug-and-play" game engine that you'll enhance and reunse to create a number of games for your PC. (Recommended for teenagers)

This program introduces students to the basics of computer animation. Students will learn to create and animate images with Macromedia Flash. Topics include drawing and painting, working with objects and layers, adding text and animation, and publishing Flash movies on a Web site. Students will learn to create their own animated cartoon, greeting card, and/or simple computer game. (Ages 7 and up)

In this class, creative writing meets computer animation and game design. Students will create their own adventure stories, which they can write and illustrate in PowerPoint, animate with Flash, or turn into a simple computer game (focusing on logic skills). (Ages 7 and up)

Desktop Publishing
Become the publishing guru at your house, a pro at creating colorful flyers, posters, newsletters, cover pages, letterheads, resumes, postcards, memos, fax headers, advertisements, and more. Students will have access to a color printer, scanner, and digital camera to dress up their creations with instant artwork. (Ages 7 and up)

Digital Artistry
Students will learn the skills they need to create exciting digital art. Using Adobe Photoshop and other professional graphics software, students will master the art of drawing and painting techniques, express their creativity on the computer, learn to distinguish appropriate graphics file formats, export images in formats for the Internet, and create art using drawing, painting, and 3D rendering applications. (Ages 7 and up)

Flash Game Programming
This course examines Flash's objects, methods and functions required to create simple games and simulations. Game development is approached through easily comprehensible "building blocks" that can be combined in countless ways to produce original games. Example games, in a variety of genres, will be deconstructed and reconstructed in class demonstrations. The game design process, story, challenge/reward, control, performance, repeat playability, and delivery considerations will be covered. Students are encouraged to embark on creating an original game or simulation. (Recommended for teenagers)

Keyboarding: Learn to Touch Type
Students will be learn to touch type and use correct keyboard technique. Speed and accuracy development are stressed. Homework exercises and computer typing games are provided too. (Ages 8 and up)

MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
These Microsoft Office applications are staples in workplaces and school settings alike. Learn to use the features you need when you need them.

Parent-and-Child Web Design
Join your child for our unique classes to learn how to create your own Web site. Topics include HTML, style sheets, and creating graphics with Adobe Photoshop. Create individual sites or collaborate on your own family Web site! (Children 8 and up should be accompanied by a parent)

Web Design
Teens and younger children alike will learn how to express their creativity and individuality in creating their own Web sites. Topics include HTML, style sheets, and creating graphics with Adobe Photoshop. (Ages 8 and up)

Corporate training
We offer group classroom training in programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or Adobe Photoshop, customized to focus on the features important to your company's or department's staff. We will provide training at your company's offices.

Private adult classes
We especially like working with adults who need to learn new skills as they change careers, return to the workplace, or simply want to become familiar with using a computer for e-mail or the Web.
